COMPILATION ALBUM LAUNCH PARTY
THURSDAY 20TH FEBRUARY 2025
ALL IS JOY, SOHO [LONDON]
On Thursday, February 20th, we are taking over All Is Joy in Soho, an eclectic venue housed in the iconic former Warner Bros. cinema, now reimagined by the dynamic arts collective behind it. This event marks a special occasion as we are celebrating the release of Wonky Plonky Electronk's first compilation album, featuring singles from the incredible Wonky artists: Mieko Shimizu, Dhangsha, Shape Navigator, Analogue Mechanic, and the late Gagarin.

Mieko Shimizu - Mieko Shimizu is a nonconformist Japanese singer, songwriter, composer, and producer based in London, known for her bold ventures into avant-garde and experimental music. As Apache 61, she fused fractured breaks with avant-garde melodies, while her reflective album My Tentacles explored glitchy electronica and symphonic depth, inspired by personal struggles that underscored the transformative power of music. Collaborating with artists like Mick Karn, Nitin Sawhney, and William D Drake, and performing with Massive Attack and Kraftwerk, Mieko has also composed for the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Phoenix Dance Theatre. Currently a resident artist with Wonky Plonky Electronk, she is preparing new releases for 2025, blending ancient and modern influences. [Instagram | Facebook | Website]

Scanner - Scanner (British artist Robin Rimbaud) traverses the experimental terrain between sound and space connecting a bewilderingly diverse array of genres. Since 1991 he has been intensely active in sonic art, producing concerts, installations and recordings, the albums Mass Observation (1994), Delivery (1997), and An Ascent(2020) hailed by critics as innovative and inspirational works of contemporary electronic music. Dhanghsa - Dhangsha (Bengali for ‘destruction’) is an electronic musician engaged in disruption at the interface of bass music and experimental noise. Using the principles of minimalism, repetition and fragmentation, he creates sparse but heavy beats, punctuated by African clave accents and alien synth motifs. Dhangsha has contributed to compilations for Syrphe, Avon Terror Corps, Tusk Editions, Iklectik, Industrial Coast and the vinyl "Disruptive Frequencies" on Nonclassical, and is a regular addition to Wonky nights.
